DAY THREE
On this day we worked on the pieces for the legs.
We used chisels for carefully taking off the bark on the sides that we had not planed or cut before,…
we used a rasper on the edges and then we spent a lot of time sandpapering to finish the pieces.
Finally we started assembling four of the pieces to a pair of legs for the bench.
We connected the pieces with long wire nails (100mm) and dowels of 12mm diameter. For both we had to drill the holes first. Then we could hammer in the nails and put in the dowels with glue.
After assembling the two pairs of legs, we cut off the overlap of the legs.
DAY FOUR
The next day we worked with the chisels and sandpaper on the three long pieces for seat. This took us a long time, because the trunks were very big.
DAY FIVE
By the end of the week we could start assembling the pieces for the seat. On this day the children were dressed up for the singing competition.
To provide a strong connection we drilled 12mm holes with the drilling machine, put glue into the holes …
and hammered in the dowels after cutting them to the right length.
